Split This Rock Poetry Festival: Poems of Provocation & Witness 2020 (March 26-28) calls poets, writers, educators, activists, and dreamers to Washington, DC for three days of readings, workshops, panel discussions, youth programming, a book fair, open mics, and activism. Featuring some of the most socially significant and artistically vibrant poets today, the festival offers opportunities to speak boldly for justice, build connection and community, and celebrate the many ways poetry can be a practice for social change.

Online Registration is OPEN until Friday, February 28, after which on-site registration will be available March 27-28 at the featured reading venue (to be announced) and the festival hub, the Cloyd Heck Marvin Center at George Washtington University, located at 800 21st St NW, Washington, DC 20052. Specific on-site registration times to be announced. 

Early Bird Rates are available until Friday, January 31, 2020.

ABOUT FESTIVAL REGISTRATION FEES: Split This Rock is committed to making the Poetry Festivals financially accessible. We keep fees low, offer a registration subsidy fund, and provide opportunities to attend the Festival for free through volunteering. Historically, income from registration fees covers less than a third of Festival costs, so we now provide registration options to better support the Festival. We estimate the cost of the Festival to be at least $300 per person, and we invite everyone who is able to pay at that level. For those with a greater capacity, please consider giving an additional amount to cover subsidized registrations and the full cost of the Festival. You can also help us keep Split This Rock Poetry Festival financially accessible by recruiting people and organizations in your network to sponsor the Festival, purchase program book ads, and reserve a table at the Book Fair. ACCESSIBILITY: Split This Rock values individuals with disabilities and strives to make its programs and materials accessible. All the Festival's venues are wheelchair accessible. Large print program books will be available at the Festival by request. Featured Poet readings will include ASL interpreters. We urge all attendees to help keep the Festival spaces fragrance free. Volunteer & Receive Free Festival Registration - Apply by January 31: We depend on volunteers to make the Festival a success! Registration Subsidy Fund - Apply by February 21: Split This Rock is happy to offer a limited number of subsidy fund awards to cover the cost of registration for people who would not otherwise be able to attend Split This Rock Poetry Festival 2020. Sarah Browning Travel Scholarship - Apply by February 10: It's important to us that the cost of travel to Split This Rock Poetry Festival 2020 isn't prohibitive. In honor of founding director Sarah Browning and with the generous support of her family, Split This Rock is thrilled to offer scholarships to support travel and lodging for four (4) people to attend Split This Rock Poetry Festival 2020. Awards cover the cost of travel and lodging only. To apply, complete the online application form at Submittable.
