Low Light-Flash Light Course

The St. Paul Police Department Professional Development Institute is proud to sponsor, Low Light / Flash Light Tactics Course.

Officers work in low light environments on a regular basis, and many deadly force encounters occur in these conditions.  The low light and flashlight class is designed to give officers an increased understanding of the dynamics of using a firearm in darkened conditions.  The course will cover the use of a handgun with night sights and traditional shooting fundamentals in a variety of lighting conditions, and will also cover the use of hand-held and weapon mounted flashlights in these conditions.  Topics covered will include shooting from ready positions, draw and fire drills, multiple types of reloads, malfunction clearance techniques, and shooting from cover.  The course will also include force on force scenario training in a low light environment.

Officers will need to bring their authorized duty weapon, three magazines (five if using a single-stack weapon), a method of carry which is consistent with the duty assignment, a fully charged hand-held flashlight (or more than one model if you wish), weapon mounted light and batteries (if applicable).  Ammunition requirements are 750 rounds of practice ammunition and 50 rounds of Force on Force or Simunition F/X ammunition.  We will have Glock and Smith & Wesson M&P pistols for the Scenario Based Training drills.
