Preparing for and Understanding Domestic Terrorism Threats 

The Professional Devlopment Institute is proud to sponsor an ALL NEW "Preparing for and Understanding Domestic Terrorism Threats."

This 16-hour course provides a detailed look at the current threat of Domestic Terrorism in the Homeland.  As the country faces a rising threat from domestic extremist groups, it has become a hot-button and controversial issue.  This course will provide an examination of the definitions of domestic terrorism, the history of domestic terrorist groups and acts, legal issues surrounding domestic terrorism, and what the threat looks like today in the U.S.  In addition, domestic terrorist single issue groups and the sovereign citizen movement will be covered.  Finally, current issues involving domestic terrorism will be used as the basis for class discussions and examination of possible strategies to counter domestic terrorism.

Instructors:  One instructor for this course served 26 years as an undercover Operations Officer for the CIA - primarily focused on mitigating the threat from extremist groups in the U.S. and overseas.  The instructor served on a Joint Terrorism Task Force with the FBI and local law enforcement in the U.S. conducting counter-terrorism operations.  The instructor currently provides HUMINT and Counter-Terrorism training to U.S. military special operations elements directly involved in the fight against the Islamic State, and is an adjunct professor at the California Specialized Training Institute – the POST institute for the State of California law enforcement elements. 

 

     The other instructor is a recognized authority on terrorism, “Fourth Generation Warfare,” and many other criminal justice/security related issues. He has over forty years of experience in law enforcement and intelligence operations.  He has in-depth expertise in the gathering and collating of intelligence, and is an instructor on counter-terrorism and intelligence at the California Specialized Training Institute.  He was also an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Southern California, and Adjunct Professor at Portland State University. He was designated as “Distinguished Instructor” at the National Inter-Agency Civil-Military Institute.  The Instructor also served as a “Special Consultant” on homeland security and terrorism to the California Department of Justice, Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
