Video Software Handling; Intro to FFmpeg - External - April 23 and 24, 2020 

The Professional Development Institute is proud to introuduce "Video Software Handling; Intro to FFmpeg."

 

The underlying software behind most multi-media players and forensic video analysis software processing tools is FFmpeg—a free, open-source tool that can decode, encode, and process most video files found today.

Introduction to FFmpeg is a 2-day hands-on workshop in which students will discover the capabilities of this software project for handling multimedia data. Processes will be explored for common analysis techniques including playback, analysis, and transcoding of digital video files.

Additionally, new and improved workflows for analyzing and processing both standard and proprietary video file formats will be discussed including:

• Understanding multimedia frameworks

• Employing ffplay to view multimedia files

• Utilizing ffprobe to analyze and create reports of multimedia files

• Building batch files to automate the multimedia analysis process

• Applying ffmpeg to transcode multimedia files into an acceptable container

A laptop computer must be brought by each student attending this class. The student must have administrative privileges on the laptop so that they may install software during the class.
