November 2019 Breakfast Meeting: Talent Attraction & Retention Panel 

Join us Friday, November 15, 2019 for breakfast as Jacob Crawford from DataYard will moderate a panel of local entrepreneurs and advocates to discuss talent retention and attraction, the challenges they face, what they do to overcome those challenges, success stories, and how others can help boost talent retention and attraction in the region.  Panel to include the following:

Carly Cox, Chief Operating Officer, JJR Solutions is a Dayton native with a degree in Organizational Leadership from Wright State University and a Masters in Acquisition and Contract Management from Bellevue University. She’s spent over a decade in leadership with tech companies in the Dayton region. Carly has helped lead JJR in a move to Dayton’s downtown in the Avant Garde building while growing the team’s staff significantly over the last two years. JJR Solutions has successfully acquired talent from across the country to the Dayton region and has a vested interest in continuing to attract talent.

   

AJ Ferguson, Economic Development Project Manager, Downtown Dayton Partnership is a community builder and social innovator with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Dayton. In his role at the Downtown Dayton Partnership, he helps small businesses, startups, and established companies become thriving members of the downtown business community. As a resident of downtown and active community member, AJ has a pulse on what’s working and what needs improved to attract new talent.  

   

Jeff Graley, Co-Founder and President, Mile Two has used his experiences at West Virginia University, Wright State University, University of Pennsylvania’s The Wharton School, and AFRL to build successful startup in Dayton, Ohio. Starting with a handful of employees and a couple of contracts, Jeff and his team have curated and grown to a team of over 40 developers and human performance specialists with no signs of slowing down. Jeff has been integral as an early adopter of downtown, as a largely defense-based contractor, in the growing innovation corridor of the Webster Street District.

   

Joe Harrison, Founder, Entrepreneurs Anonymous is a self-made entrepreneur, community builder, and creative lead for local and national brands. His emphasis on people and entrepreneurship in Dayton has curated a community of 700+ entrepreneurs from the Dayton area together. This community has grown to impact cities like Columbus, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis and drawing the interests of investors and angel funds to experience the Dayton market.

   

Lauren White is the Executive Director of UpDayton, an organization that seeks to attract and retain talent to the region by inspiring and empowering individuals to create a community they will want to call home. Lauren is a graduate of Sinclair Community College and Northern Kentucky University. She is also the CEO of Indigo Life, a lifestyle brand and digital entertainment network that focuses on inspiring people to connect.

 

Jacob Crawford, moderator for this panel, is a people-first problem solver with an aptitude for learning, leadership, and curating human experience. Jacob is known for his recent role in Client Partnerships at DataYard, a local IT firm focused on making IT human through building strong partnerships that provide solutions for technical optimization. Jacob is a Dayton native who has experienced moving back to Dayton as an adult, entrepreneurship running a small business (StorehouseOne), and working for an established local company.
