Experts on Artificial Intelligence Theory & Practice will share their experience at the ITU Auditorium.

Panelists are Mr. Arijit Das professor at ITU and industry expert Deepak Parmar, Head of Marketing & Channel Management at Qmetry, Pradiptya Ghosh a Senior Director of Software at Intel’s PSG Division, Robert Binkley, Director Data and Quality, and Dr. Neil C. Rowe a professor and the associate chair of computer science at the US Naval Postgraduate School.

The panel Moderator is Indra Desai.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a “new normal” for our world today. It has been featured on Frontline, taught in schools, used on the factory floors, search engines and online shopping. In our world of massive data, AI recognizes patterns from vast amounts of data providing insights, predicting outcomes, and making complex decisions. It can also lead to fake news and political complications.

Our panelists will discuss and share their theories and experiences in AI and take audience questions after their presentation.

Arijit Das is a computer scientist with an MSCS degree from Oregon State University. He started his career as an IBM mainframe programmer working with COBOL, DB2 and VSAM file systems. He moved on to Oracle Relational Database technology on UNIX servers. Most of his early work experience was with service industries in the Philadelphia tri-state area. For the last 2 decades he has been part of the Research faculty at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. He has been teaching courses in computer science and working on applied research projects in the areas of Database and Big Data technologies (for various Department of Defense entities). He is a frequent speaker at Oracle user group events. At ITU he is an adjunct faculty at the computer science department. Arijit sees the growth of AI as a tool in the analysis of data and with it the ever increasing role of the data engineer.

Deepak Parmar defines himself as technologist with business mindset. He has 20+ years of global software product sales and marketing experience. He brings in valuable experience of marketing and selling IT products across different industry verticals to enterprises. Starting from IBM servers, he has successfully marketed products from Microsoft, McAfee, and Trend Micro. In his current role as Head of Marketing and Partnerships at QMetry, he has led successful launches of 4 software testing products and continues to lead QMetry’s marketing outreach and channel partner network. He manages the Atlassian Marketplace relationship and has successfully led the marketing of the QMetry’s marketplace apps. He has studied Atlassian ecosystem very closely for last 4 years. He holds an MS in Engineering Management from ITU, San Jose, USA, MBA from Hult International Business School, San Francisco, USA and a Bachelor’s degree in Science majoring in Chemistry, from Gujarat University, India.”

Pradiptya Ghoshis a Senior Director of Software at Intel’s PSG Division, which develops FPGA HW/SW/Chips used for accelerating AI in Cloud and Edge. Between 2008-2019, he introduced AI/ML systems into semi-manufacturing and cluster Management at his previous job as Senior Director of Engineering for Calibre Semi-manufacturing at Mentor Graphics. In 2018, he was Invited by the National Science Foundation (NSF)/Semiconductor Research Consortium(SRC) to participate in the Office of Science and Technology (White House) sponsored workshop on “Explainability and Verification of AI systems”. In 2017, he was part of a working group to launch an EU initiative on using AI in semiconductor and automotive manufacturing. In 2017-18, he was also a participant of The AI Initiative @ The Future Society (Harvard Kennedy School of Government). The outcome was a report to the EU Parliament on the impact of AI on society and mitigation strategies.

Robert Binkley, Director – Quality Data and Applications. Robert graduated from UC Davis in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in music.  Additionally, in 2012 he earned his Mba degree from Santa Clara University focusing on international business and leading teams and organizations.  He has worked at Xilinx for nearly 20 years performing various roles in customer support, Technical Sales, Web development, knowledge management, Systems management and for the last 5 years in Quality Automation.  In his personal time he is husband, father, and an avid out-doors sports enthusiast and enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, boarding, swimming and camping. Robert is currently a quality director responsible for development and management of automation and data applications and has been primarily focused on up leveling data driven operations in manufacturing and quality.

Neil C. Rowe is a professor and the associate chair of computer science at the US Naval Postgraduate School. His main research interest is intelligent access to multimedia databases; he has also done work on image processing, robotic path planning, and intelligent tutoring systems.
