Infection Control
Participants will learn how to evaluate and update their existing infection control practices to meet the current California minimum standards for infection control. Examples of infection control “do’s and dont’s” and “hands-on” demonstrations will provide the participant with memorable tips. This program will motivate the participant to strive for infection control excellence. New Cal/OSHA training requirements concerning aerosol transmitted diseases (ATDs) will be discussed. Topics covered will include: Dental Board IC Regulations (DPA Section 1005)

California Dental Practice Act

  • Highlights and Updates of the Dental Practice Act
  • Scope of Practice for Dentists and Allied Dental Health Personnel
  • License Renewal Requirements, Continuing Education, Laws Governing Citations and Fines
  • Laws Pertaining to Prescriptions
  • Dental Record Keeping
  • Acts in Violation of the Dental Practice Act, Including Unprofessional Conduct

Cal/OSHA training course will provide up-to-date, relevant, regulatory compliance guidelines and information to inspire dental health care professionals (DHCPS) to create a safer work environment at the office. Cal/OSHA requires training for DHCPs (DDS, DMD, RDH, RDHEF/AP, RDA, RDAEF, DA) who have occupational risks to contracting blood-borne pathogens and/or work with hazardous chemicals or chemical waste. Because of the hazards inherent in the practice of dentistry, Cal/OSHA has specific training topics to protect DHCPs and to create a safer work environment. Safe work environments must be supported by an elevated management safety culture within the office, which centers on an effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program, required of all employers in California (CCR Title 8, Sec 3203). Learn how to get a safety plan tailored to your office using CDA’s Regulatory Compliance Manual and the task of completing it made simple. Additional training topics will combine up-to-date information on blood-borne pathogens, including information on aerosol transmitted diseases (ATDs) (Title 8, Sec. 5193), hazard communications (Title 8, Sec. 5194) and other safety topics pertinent to dentistry. This comprehensive course is designed to complete “refresher training” requirements set forth by Cal/OSHA for employees who work in an environment with occupational risks for blood-borne pathogens or hazardous chemicals.
