Metal Roofing

Metal Roofing
February 5-6 2020
16 CEHs

Metal has unique properties that separate it from other roof choices. For over three millennia, metal roofing has been a durable, aesthetically appealing design element utilized for significant buildings.  The introduction of corrugated metal roofing in the late 19th century became a welcome economical, fire-resistant roofing option. Metal roofing continues to evolve with technological advances in alloys, coatings, and the use of “floating” standing-seam roof panels.

This course’s content is intended to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of metal roofing.

Insights

  •  How metal roofing has evolved and continues to grow market share
  • The various metal roofing systems and how they differ in performance
  • How to design adequate provisions for expansion and contraction
  •  How metal roofing tests are performed and what they indicate
  • How to specify insulation, underlayment, vapor retarders, and ventilation provisions
  • The keys to designing successful metal roof flashings
  • How to prevent problematic conditions
  • The sustainable nature of metal roofing
  • Metal roof retrofit options
  • Why metal roofs need periodic maintenance
  • How metal roof panel and coating warranties differ from other commercial roof warranties
