Soft Tissue Management in Anterior Esthetics

Smile aesthetics have been shown to play a major role in a person’s appearance, self-confidence and social life. Integral to harmonizing smile aesthetics is the perfect integration of facial aesthetics and dental composition. Facial aesthetics include the hard and soft tissues, and dental composition relates to the teeth and gingival tissues. After reviewing the critical elements of dentofacial aesthetics, this lecture will focus on soft tissue aberrations, more specifically gingival recession, and excessive gingival display, better known as “gummy smile”. This presentation will provide insight on the proper diagnosis of both of those conditions, appropriate treatment planning and correct staging in the delivery of treatment.
