Important Issues Facing Health Care Providers

Complimentary dinner and seminar designed specifically for health care providers:

Allegations of Sexual Misconduct: An Old Problem With A New Reality

In 2017, the #MeToo movement swept through the U.S. bringing to light a wave of sexual misconduct and harassment allegations and creating a subsequent rise in litigation and criminal investigations. The health care industry is not immune. Statistics show that health care workers experience some of the highest rates of sexual harassment in the country.

As a health care provider or employer, what does this mean for you?

Please join us for a panel discussion on January 22, 2020 to hear directly from a fact investigator, an employment attorney, and a lawyer experienced in representing the accused. The discussion will include:

  • What are the trends in North Carolina and how does the recent change in sexual assault laws impact my practice?
  • How has the #MeToo movement and current patient perception changed licensing board oversight?
  • What steps can I take to avoid such claims? What should I do if I am accused?
  • As an employer, what immediate steps should I take once a situation has been reported?
  • What is the appropriate action to protect the accuser? The accused?
  • What kind of documentation do we need to support our actions?
  • How might I prepare for an investigation?
  • Who can talk to the investigator? To the accused? To the accuser?
  • How is the investigation conducted? What is the investigator looking to find?
