 About the speaker

Ms. Ruth Emmerink started working in the government in 2000 and in 2002 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the start of her career at this Ministry, she worked as a Second Secretary in Bamako, Mali and as a Senior Policy Officer at the Department of Human Rights and Peace Building, later Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid. Before being named as a Consul General, she served as Deputy Ambassador in Manila, Philippines, and recently, in Seoul, South Korea. Ruth is currently based in Miami and her mission covers Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and Texas. The consulate also covers the US Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, the Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas.
