For more information, watch this video

Participants will be exploring the exercises in the book, all based on finding the genius "toolbox in them selves" what means all the practices in the book are tailored to guide each other in very practical ways.

The book ”The Toolbox is you“ is about what we already have within us.It invites us to notice what moves in and out of our body, what goes through our mind and what nourishes both, mind and body. It also invites us to use what you notice as a tool.

Maria Tussi Kluge has devoted her career to applying her training and interest in mindfulness, yoga and therapeutic massage to promote health and well being in a variety of settings. She studied therapeutic massage, cranial sacral and tai massage, with intense focus on patients with cancer, special scar treatments and stroke rehabilitation.

In 1993, her interest in combining complementary mind/body approaches into the mainstream of conventional health care led her to found the Dogwood Institute in Charlottesville, VA.

Beginning in 1994, Maria trained in MBSR (Mindfulness- Based Stress Reduction) with Jon Kabat- Zinn at the University of Massachusetts where she completed the MBSR Instructor training and teacher development intensives. She has worked since then as an MBSR teacher both in the US and in her native Germany. Yoga is an integral part of her teaching, as she brings a gentle, compassionate, and playful approach toward workingwith others. She was instrumental in establishing the University of Virginia’s Mindfulness Center and taught there for 7 years. Maria has also taught mindfulness in adult and juvenile jails and prisons in Richmond and Charlottesville, VA.

She has also brought these trainings to the UVA School of Nursing, in programs designed to increase resiliency and self-care for new generations of the nursing work force.

Her long-standing commitments to the mind/body connection and healing have led her to study, train and collaborate with highly respected teachers of massage, yoga and tai chi. Maria also completed her studies in the Being With Dying program at the Upaya Zen Center in New Mexico under the direction of Roshi Joan Halifax and then worked with that organization as an instructor to develop an international professional training program for end-of-life care.

Maria served  5 years on the Advisory Board of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the Hiromi T’ai Chi Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Since 2012 she started to bring her knowledge into the education system beginning from kindergarden to high school and universities consequently 2016 she published “the toolbox is you”and 25.000 books are in used and applied.
