Job Development: 50 Ways to Engage Employers 

Employer engagement that leads to good jobs continues to be one of the most challenging and time-consuming activities for employment service agencies.  There is no one recipe that works for all communities.  Paula will share 50 strategies that include: Advisory groups, job fairs, networking sites such as LinkedIn, memberships in community organizations, complimentary workplace analyses, to name just a few.  Successful strategies will be shared that were collected from over 40 organizations across the US and the United Kingdom.  This interactive training session will assist participants to create a work plan that can be implemented immediately.

Training details:

  • Registration begins at 9:00am
  • Class starts at 9:30am
  • 30-minute lunch PROVIDED, details with registration (sandwiches)
  • $20 for APSE members and $35 for others
  • Possible special introductory membrship rate, when signing up for this class (details below)
  • Earn 4 Continuing Education (CE) credits

About Paula Johnson

Paula has 40+ years of experience in job development, job analysis, career planning, marketing, staff training, and management.  During her nine-years at the University of San Francisco, McLaren School of Business, she directed California's Supported Employment statewide training projects and led the California Corporate Initiative. She served as the Senior Director of Best Buddies Jobs and led the expansion of 10 employment programs across the US and Latin America. Paula is currently a National Consultant with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital - Project SEARCH and assists employers and agencies with the development of Project SEARCH training programs in the western US. She is the Treasurer for Oregon APSE and serves on the APSE National Board as the Regional Delegate for the Northwest and Pacific region. Her passion for equitable employment for people with disabilities grows with each passing year.
