CREATING A SAFE & SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR TRANSGENDER, NON-BINARY, AND INTERSEX PEOPLE
This workshop will provide individuals with an increased ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with transgender, non-binary, and inter -sex people. Attendees will also gain an awareness of their own cultural view on gender and perhaps re-evaluate perceptions, attitudes and beliefs towards difference in gender identity and expression.
Topics discussed at this work, include but are not limited to; proper terminology and concepts to define gender; an explanation of the categories that describe each of us in regards to sex and who we love; best practices to implement in organizations to encourage a supportive and accepting environment; and what it means to be part of this unique community.
The speaker will share personal life experiences to allow attendees to develop an understanding for those who are "gender expansive".
The final goal of this workshop will afford attendees to ensure their organization is inclusive by modifying standards, policies, practices and attitudes to understand this unique community.
