Presentation 1: CCMC Evaluation

This generic presentation will address four principal aspects of the Environmental Separator as it applies to EIFS: Heat Transfer, Air Leakage, Vapour Diffusion and Precipitation. The presentation will also discuss Fire Protection requirements applicable to EIFS, most notably Non-Combustible Construction, Spatial Separation, and Exposure Protection. In regard to design and detailing considerations; the presentation will focus on the interface with other building elements, termination points, expansion joints, and drainage. This part of the presentation also addresses impact resistance, aesthetic reveals, and decorative mouldings.

Speaker: Andre Turrin

Andre Turrin joined DuRock Alfacing in 1997 and in 2006 he assumed the role of DuRock’s Technical Director and represents DuRock on the ECC Board of Directors. Andre is a member of the ECC Technical Committee, he actively participated in the development of the ECC EIFS Quality Assurance Program and the ECC EIFS Practice Manual, and he was a member of the steering committee for the ECC EIFS Courses for Building Officials and Designers.

Andre is a member of the ULC Task Group on EIFS that developed the three CAN/ULC-S716 EIFS Standards that are referenced in the 2015 National Building Code of Canada. Andre was also a member of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) Joint Task Group of the Standing Committees on Environmental Separation, Houses and Small Buildings, and Energy Efficiency in Buildings that proposed changes to reference the S716 EIFS Standards in the National Building Code of Canada.


Presentation 2: Passive Building Design Case Study

 This presentation will showcase 

  • The over-cladding retrofit of a multi-storey residential apartment meeting passive building strategies. 
  • The over-cladding system involves the use of mineral stone wool insulation in an exterior insulation finish type system.
