This free training offers basic fundamentals and introductory skills for advocates serving domestic violence survivors and their children. You'll learn about the history of the domestic violence movement and ways to become more culturally humble and inclusive. The webinar series teaches survivor-defined advocacy and strategies for risk management, danger and lethality assessments and safety-planning. Topics include  trauma informed approaches and the impact of batterers on family dynamics.  You'll understand the pros and cons of protection orders and learn about Ohio's Crime Victim Compensation program. Come with a desire to explore difficult topics, share with others, and leave with new knowledge to work effectively with survivors and children experiencing domestic violence.

This hybrid training consists of 12 hours of live webinars and 12 hours of online learning. After you've registered, you'll receive a link to register for the online learning portion. All online learning should be completed by September 20. If you have any questions about accessing the online learning, please contact ODVN's online tech support at training@odvn.org.
