Birth Doula Workshop with Warm Welcome, Amherst MA, Spring 2020

Are you ready to enter birthwork with a workshop that is insistently practical, absolutely heart-centered, hands-on and unforgettable? In four intensive, fun days, you'll gain the skills you need to launch your own doula practice, helping families have the gentle, healthy births they dream of. Taught by a Certified Professional Midwife who also regularly works as a doula and has also attended 500+ births over 23 years.

One of the features that distinguishes this workshop from other doula trainings is that it includes a hands-on module with pregnant families. This session will give you a huge confidence boost!

Four full days: March 7, 8, 28, & 29, 2020 at Amherst College. Four day attendance required in order to be eligible for certification.

Can I begin working as a doula after taking this workshop?
Yes! After completing the prerequisite reading, observing a series of childbirth education classes, and attending the four-day Doula Training Workshop, participants have the skills to begin supporting families in birth.

Graduates of this training have gone on to become active members of the Green River Doula Network and hospital doula programs including the San Francisco General Hospital Doula Program. Others have continued on to apprenticeship in midwifery, attending births internationally, nurse-midwifery or OB training, and/or to start their own independent practice as birth & postpartum doulas.

More info at www.birthdoulaworkshop.com. If we have not yet emailed it to you, please be sure to request the 7-page PDF with important details about prerequisite reading, childbirth ed observation and more.
.
Tuition $600. Reserve your spot with a $75 deposit; tuition balance of $535 will be due by two weeks before the workshop. Or pay in full when registering to save a $10 multiple-payment processing fee.

SPECIAL OFFERS
  • Early Bird Discount through Feb. 5th- save $50 when tuition is paid in full now!
  • Current Amherst College Students: Two Amherst College students are seeking funding for partial scholarships for some AC students. You may register with $75 deposit now and include a note in your registration that you will be requesting financial assistance, and describing how much aid you would request. Please only request aid if you would not otherwise be likely to be able to attend. Those who receive financial aid for this workshop through the students' efforts will also have their deposit refunded to them after attending all four days of the workshop.  We hope to know by early February if aid will be available, and if so, how much. These two AC students will help me review applications and we intend to notify applicants of the funding availability by late February on a rolling basis. If you do not receive aid that you would have needed to attend, your deposit will be returned to you. If it is impossible for you to pay the $75 deposit, please email us at warmwelcomedoulaworkshop@gmail.com and propose an alternative.
  • Refer a friend who attends and receive a $20 Amazon Gift Card! (think birth books!)
  • One workstudy position is available. A credit of $80 off tuition is given in exchange for assisting with setup and cleanup during the days of the workshop. Email to inquire.
  • Extended payment plans are available. Financial references from a non-family member are required.
  • Foreign Language Service Discount for those who are fluent in a language other than English and will use their foreign language to serve a disadvantaged population; $50 off.
  • Affirmative Action- I personally subsidize $850 in tuition fees for people of color, recent immigrants, and white Latinx to choose their own price for each birth doula workshop; these scholarships are available for those who are not eligible for on-campus funding sources. Curious why? Read these articles and I think you'll agree this is important. Healthier Pregnancies for Indigenous WomenRacial and Ethnic DisparitiesCurrent Relevance of Affirmative Action, and finally Reverse Racism Isn't a Thing.  If you are interested in applying for one of these spots, please write us and share whatever information you feel is relevant. We’ll let you know whether you received a choose-your-price spot for this workshop no later than 6 weeks before the workshop begins. For this session, since we anticipate significant funding help through the college, priority for POC discounts will go to people who are not Amherst College students.
  • Refresher/Cross-Certification Discount is available for those who completed a past doula training (with any teacher) and want to deepen their skills or get fresh inspiration. Tuition $475.
