Priority is given to applicants who meet these basic criteria:
Our primary practice will be Mindfulness Meditation, a simple technique that has been developed over 2,500 years. Beginning with the focusing of attention on the breath, the practice concentrates and calms the mind and body. It allows us to see through the mind's conditioning and free ourselves of habitual behaviors thereby allowing us to live more fully present in this moment.
Inquiry is an interactive practice done in dyads or triads where we practice mindful presence in speaking and listening while investigating our immediate experience. Inquiry helps us explore the obscurations to contact with our more essential nature through a dynamic questioning, observing and feeling.
This retreat is held in silence except for the inquiry sessions and interviews with the teacher. Our days will include scheduled periods of sitting and walking meditation and mindful movement to help us connect body, mind and heart. The retreat will also include meditation instruction, teachings, small group interviews, inquiry exercises, and discussions.
