America's Boating Club One Day Boating Course & Certification 

 Get your New York Boating Certification at our one day course.

New York State has passed legislation that all boaters on State waters must take a Safe Boating Course. Under a new law called Brianna’s law, all motor boat operators born by:

  • January 1, 1993 must have certificate by year 2020
  • January 1, 1988   must have certificate by year 2022
  • January 1, 1983   must have certificate by year 2023
  • January 1, 1978    must have certificate by year 2024
  • All operators of motor vessels regardless of age 2025

America's Boating Club—United States Power Squadron—Staten Island, in collaboration with The National Lighthouse Museum will present a 1 day (8 hour) course at the Museum on Monday, April 20, 2020. The exam will be given that day and you may obtain your New York Boating Certification. The Staten Island Power Squadron established in 1934 has been teaching this course to thousands of people in its 84 years of existence. This course covers:

  • Required equipment
  • Aids to Navigation
  • Fueling and Safe operation
  • Rules of the road - Navigation Rules
  • Regular boat handling and under adverse conditions
  • Line handling, docking and undocking a boat
  • Courtesy on the water

The course starts and 8:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm. The cost for this one day course is $125 and includes breakfast, lunch, testing, certificate and the official guide book, America's Boating Course by the United States Power Squadrons (a $31 value).
