           This topic will be a discussion of the significant new California employment laws that came into effect on January 1, 2020.  A focus of the presentation will be a discussion of AB5, which imposes a new test for determining whether a person must be treated as an employee or can be treated as an independent contractor.

     Our Speaker:   Robert J. Wilger, Attorney-Shareholder at Littler Mendelson P.C. represents clients in all aspects of employment law, including civil lawsuits and administrative proceedings involving allegations of wrongful termination, discrimination and other claims arising out of employment disputes. In addition to practicing before the United States Supreme Court and other state and federal courts, Robert also has experience in federal and state administrative actions before:

  • The California Labor Commissioner
  • The California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board
  • The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing
  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

-No-Show is defined as a member or non-member who made a reservation for a meeting, did not pay for the meeting at the time of reservation, failed to cancel their reservation by 10:00 a.m. TWO days prior to the meeting and did not attend the meeting.  -No-Shows will be billed the Chapter's cost of the dinner, because they failed to attend, failed to pay for it in advance and failed to cancel the reservation by the 10:00 a.m. deadline.   - No-Show member or non-member who made a reservation and paid will not receive a refund, unless they cancel their reservation by the 10:00 a.m. deadline.  Otherwise, "no-refund" is given.
