Lovely Lettering Retreat with Loredana Zega
Hosted by Texas Lettering Arts Council

This relaxing and creative 3-day retreat will inspire your lettering, design and study skills in the peaceful setting of the Springhill Retreat Center located in Richardson, Texas. Open to intermediate and advanced ability levels. Space is limited to 15 adult students.

Since this is a retreat-style workshop, there will be plenty of time in the evenings for studying and practicing the techniques Loredana has taught during the day.

The Dance of the Automatic Pen

Students will learn how to develop the skill of dancing with a pen, naturally. Just as a dance with a partner, moves with rhythm and flow, students will learn how to feel the lightness of strokes using pen manipulation with ease. The exercises Loredana has developed for learning consistancy and rhythm provide an excellent opportunity to increase concentration while boosting your confidence as a calligrapher, no matter what tool you pick up to use.

Zega Dry Brush Lettering

Students will explore the patterns and transluscent paths and textures of the flat brush using color, various brush positions and layering skills to create designs for backgrounds or final artwork.

Experimental Embossing techniques Zega 2020

Enhancing your lettering with raised in relief, repoussť-like technique, but in paper. Loredana uses color, metal leaf and varied pressure to gain a gorgeous finished piece of artwork.

Springhill Retreat Center sits on 50 wooded acres of Texas Hill Country, with a limestone-lined, spring-fed creek flowing through the woods and three large ponds surrounded by beatutiful native trees and foliage.
