Motivational Interviewing: A Different Way of Thinking About It

This training will cover the basics of Motivational Interviewing. Motivational Interviewing is considered an “Evidence-Based” Practice and is one of the methods that works the best with resistant clients. There is often a misunderstanding about the philosophy and application of this method with clients who have Substance Use Disorders. This training will focus on helping participants develop a better understanding of the philosophy behind Motivational Interviewing and on developing practical skills for use with highly resistant substance use disorder clients. Participants are encouraged to bring case examples for use in “role-play” exercises.
