Join us for our 6th Annual, 4-mile, Black History Month Hike at Sweetwater Creek State Park on Saturday, February 1. This easy to moderate hike will include a history lesson about some of our unsung heroes and sheroes.
Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only about 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta. A wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the authenic New Manchester Manufacturing Company built by the enslaved. The company was a textile mill burned during the Civil War.
Meet us at the TARGET parking lot so we can carpool and caravan to the park. Come prepared to drive or be a passenger, and have at least $5.00 money to help pay for gas and parking. Note that FREE State Park parking passes can be checked out at your local library. While the hike is free, donations are appreciated. See Carolyn with your donation.
As always, wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing. Bring snacks, a healthy lunch and water.
