This workshop is a two-part Zoom webinar...

No matter what anyone tells you, marketing for a nonprofit is unlike any other type of marketing you can do.  Not only do you have programs or services to promote, but you also have a mission and goals to communicate in the hopes of acquiring new supporters. Not to mention the ongoing efforts to retain and grow those supporters.

We'll talk about why your first step should always be slowing down and actually defining your audience, what the difference between mission marketing and program marketing is, which tools you should already be using, how to use storytelling to share your mission and marketing trends to pay attention to and ones to ignore.

Topics will include:

  • Who are you talking to? Defining your audience then picking which tools work best to connect with them.
  • How list segmentation can help target your marketing.
  • Free to low-cost tools for email, graphic design, social media, photos and more, that make your job easier
  • "Once upon a time..." Using storytelling to share your mission.
  • What is newsjacking and do I need an influencer?
  • How to get your audience to share their own stories and experiences.
  • A picture tells a thousand words---Instagram.
  • "Ready, set, action!" ---using video to share your programs and stories.
  • Trending hashtags that get you noticed.
  • How to use quotes to infuse emotion into your marketing.
