Study Trip to Germany June 2020 :                            Education and High-Tech Apprenticeships

Germany’s dual education system is well-recognized - but what can be applied to the US educational system?

How can educators and trainers develop successful strategies to expose students to the possibility of apprenticeships? What can educators and trainers in company contribute to a successful career in high tech manufacturing?

From June 15 – 19, 2020, GACC Midwest will travel Northern Germany with up to 15 selected experts from American colleges and high schools, policy makers, company trainers, and representatives from other institutions working closely with apprenticeship programs.

On this trip, we will provide you with the opportunity to learn from your German Education and Industry counterparts regarding best practices for enabling career paths through apprenticeships while building lasting contacts and friendships abroad.

Don’t miss this opportunity to:

  • Learn how SME and large companies implement the training program for apprentices
  • Network with educators from different German colleges
  • Learn how Company College Cooperation is realized in Germany
Planned Activities (subject to change)
  • Meeting with the representatives of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce to learn about apprenticeship training policies and procedures in Germany
  • Visiting BBS Neustadt - one of the largest colleges for technical training to see what state of the art technical training in Germany looks like
  • Visiting a rural college in Berlin-Brandenburg to see how they attract students with smaller classes which positively impacts their training
  • Visiting Graepel Germany, an award-winning company that succesfully trains apprentices in Germany and the US
  • Learn how German companies work together in offering training partnerships to secure comprehensive training for apprentices
  • Cultural activities to round out the program
