Thank you for your interest in our March Working Women's Wednesday. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in North Carolina, we have cancelled all remaining March events, including this month's WWW.

At this time, we remain open for individual client appointments either in person or via-phone. Our hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm. This is subject to change.

We are hopeful that if we practice social distancing, our community will be resilient and healthy.

  Working Women's Wednesday with

Annie Baggett of Sunshine Lavender Farm!

Annie Baggett, her husband, Dale, and daughters Abigail and Sylvie own and operate Sunshine Lavender Farm in the tiny community of Schley, north of Hillsborough. Founded in 2000, the family grows lavender for fresh and preserved floral use and creates hand crafted items for body, garden, gifts, home and weddings. With the aim to preserve the rural landscape and engage the lavender loving community, the farm hosts guests during June Bloom and Holiday Open Farm Weekend experiences.

Throughout her 35+ year career, Annie’s training and experience in marketing, communications and advertising created a solid foundation on which to pursue many opportunities. Prior to joining the N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services in 2014, Annie led as Executive Director of the N.C. Therapeutic Riding Center in Mebane, a nonprofit providing services for individuals with disabilities through horse-centered programming. For 15 years prior to working in nonprofit, Annie teamed with central North Carolina entrepreneurs, universities and businesses, both small and large, through a marketing consulting business.

Positioning North Carolina as the top destination for farms and local food in the world while assisting farmers welcoming the public through education, recreation and entertainment is her current priority as a N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services Agritourism Marketing Specialist in Agribusiness Development. Annie is leading the statewide expansion effort of the Visit NC Farms app, a digital promotional tool created to boost the diverse revenue streams of farms. The Visit NC Farms app is connecting the 51 million visitors to the state each year and its 10.5 million residents to local farms & fisheries, pick your own destinations, farmers markets, local food & drink, farm stays & lodging, tours & trails, shop local and community agriculture-based events.

Pledged to the success of all farms in North Carolina engaging with the public, Annie understands the needs of the farmer hosting guests and is grateful for the opportunity to participate in this gathering.
