Contemporary Law Enforcement Challenges

Lee's Summit, MO June 9, 2020

This 8-hour course includes an overview of modern challenges facing today's law enforcement organizations and personnel. Participants will learn valuable information about special populations with mental illnesses, in addition to mental health and emotional well-being for personnel in the law enforcement profession. Additionally, the course explores concepts related to critical thinking, social intelligence, de-escalation techniques and responding to those in crisis. Finally, the course covers basic concepts of implicit bias, in addition to provision of helpful guidance for prevention of racial profiling. The program satifies all the new Missouri POST continuing education requirements for 2017 and includes the following four components:

- The Law Enforcement Response to Mental Illness

- Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing

- Critical Thinking and Social Intelligence

- Implicit Bias and Racial Profiling

8-hours Total: CEH: 8-hours interpersonal relations.

This course also includes: 2-hours training on officer well-being, including mental health awareness; 2-hours training on fair and impartial policing practices including implicit bias recognition; 2-hours training on handling persons with mental health and cognitive impairment issues; 2-hours on tactical training to include de-escalation techniques, crisis mangement, critical thinking and social intelligence; and 1-hour racial profiling training.

Cost for the Contemporary Law Enforcement Challenges is $150.00 per attendee.  Refunds will not be given after June 2, 2020 but registration can be transferred to another individual from your agency.
