Dr. Drees is the infection prevention officer and hospital epidemiologist for ChristianaCare Health System. She is also an active researcher on the causes and prevention of diseases through her work as clinical investigator with the Center for Outcomes Research and co-director of Resident Research for the Department of Medicine.

Dr. Drees graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1998. She was a resident in internal medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Her work in public health and epidemiology began in 2002, when she became an officer in the Epidemic Intelligence Service for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During this two-year training program, she was stationed with the Delaware Division of Public Health in Dover. She spent the next three years at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, where she completed two fellowships. One was in geographic medicine and infectious diseases. Her other roles in the health system include working as an attending in general medicine at Wilmington Hospital and in infectious diseases for the ChristianaCare HIV Program. She serves as chair of the Infection Prevention Committee. She is a member of the Safety First Committee, and the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
