           Peter Fiasca

Peter Fiasca’s unique perspective comes from years of experience as a Romana Kryzanowska certified Pilates teacher. His many years of study culminate into intriguing and fun workshops that periodically highlight the interrelationship between traditional Pilates and overall health. Because of his extensive work as a teacher trainer, instructors, students and the public can benefit from Peter's insights into the traditional Pilates method. Peter’s devotion with Pilates began in 1988, when he took his first class at Wee-Tai Hom’s studio in Manhattan. As his passion grew, he pursued teacher training at Drago’s Gym, receiving certification in 1998 from famed master teacher Romana Kryzanowska. Over the years, he honed his teaching and his practice with regular lessons from Romana, as well as from master trainers Jay Grimes, Kathy Grant, and other distinguished, traditional instructors. Peter continues to study the work and has dedicated himself to the preservation of the Pilates method, creating the ClassicalPilates.net worldwide directory of traditional instructors. Producer and director of the award-winning Classical Pilates Technique series of six DVDs and author of the critically reviewed companion book, Discovering Pure Classical Pilates, The United States Pilates Association ® LLC Classical Pilates Symposium September 16-17, 2016 he has been a frequent guest instructor at training centers throughout the U.S., Europe, and South America. Peter’s book is translated into Spanish language: Descubriendo el Pilates Clįsico. During 2013 he released a new book titled Voices of Classical Pilates, which is an extraordinary collection of essays written by 28 well-respected professional Classical Pilates teachers. Peter appeared in Romana Kryzanowska’s first commercial DVD project, demonstrating the Pilates Mat workout, as well as the DVD "Pilates Revealed," with master teacher Jay Grimes.

Seminar Schedule

Seminar 1:   9:00am-11:00am     (2 CEUs)

The Cadillac “Bednasium”: Workshop participants will practice a wide selection Cadillac exercises—basic, intermediate, advanced, super advanced—that emphasize athletic dynamics, strong energy and coordination. Students will improve understanding of traditional Pilates technique as well as increase physical skill combining dimensions of placement, range of motion, balance, shape, articulation and flowing movement. Traditional Pilates technique and teaching skills will be discussed throughout The Cadillac Bednasium workshop.

Seminar 2:   11:00am-12:30pm  (2 CEUs)

Pilates & Parkinson's - "Pilates Can Help": A overview of the benefits Pilates can offer to all Parkinson clients with emphasis on specific exercises in the classical repertoire that can applied and the modifications to make them more beneficial.

Seminar 3:  1:00pm - 3:00pm    (2 CEUs)

Wunda Chair, High Chair & Arm Chair:  Participants will practice a wide range of Wunda Chair, High Chair and Arm Chair exercises that range from basic, intermediate, to advanced levels. Principles of placement, range of motion, balance, shape, articulation, flow, and dynamics will be discussed. Traditional Pilates technique and teaching skills will be analyzed throughout this workshop.

Seminar 4:  3:00pm - 5:00pm          (2 CEUs)

Teaching to the Straps and Springs: Romana was always harping on the fact that during the movements, the springs should not wobble and the straps should always have tension. Are we paying attention to these elements enough when we teach? Bouncing springs means the wrong muscles are being used and loose straps show a lack of control. The Seminar will feature an  interactive review of numerous movements on all equipment to demonstrate how the concentration on these two items will lead to a better workout in line with what Romana and Joe wanted.

PLEASE NOTE:  Seminars will begin promptly, please plan to arrive earlier to sign in.

This will qualify as Continuing Education for

The New York Pilates Studio Teacher Certification Program.
