Forest Carbon Dynamics and Bringing Carbon to the Market

This half-day workshop will focus on forest carbon dynamics and carbon markets. It is co-sponsored by the Granite State Division of the Society of American Foresters, UNH Cooperative Extension, the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, the NH Division of Forests and Lands, and the Spatial Informatics Group.

8:30 am: Registration

9:00 am: Forest Carbon Dynamics, Paul Catanzaro, Extension Associate Professor, University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  The dynamics of forest carbon sequestration and storage and how forest management affects these processes.

10:00 am: Carbon Accounting and Markets, John Gunn, Research Assistant Professor of Forest Management, University of New Hampshire Extension.  How carbon markets function, their accounting, and the methodology for calcuating credits.

11:00 am: Carbon Offset Markets, Charles Kerchner, Director of Forest Carbon Projects, Spatial Informatics Groups. The anatomy of carbon offset projects, how deals are structure, and the process for bringing projects to market.

12:00: Adjourn
