  • "Cartoon Yourself":  Have you ever wondered what you might look like as a cartoon or a character in a comic? Graphic novel memoirs and daily comics about everyday life are quickly growing in popularity. This session will lead you in learning about the many different possibilities of transforming yourself into an illustrated character, and just how simple it can be to get started! This session is led by Krystl Louwagie, an enthusiastic self-portraiture artist, huge comics nerd, and creator of a (sometimes) daily journal sketching project that results in a continuing and evolving comic strip of the life of a millennial. Led by Krystl Louwagie
  • Poetry: (Session description coming...) Led by Saara Raappana
  • Irish Dance with music by the Sioux Falls Ceili Band: Ceili dances are a popular form of folk dancing in Ireland. Ceili dances are based on heys, round dances, long dances, and quadrilles, generally revived during the Gaelic revival in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Learn these dances and enjoy the rousing music! Led by Jess Robinson.
  • Storytelling: Lifelong storyteller and performer Julie Walker will lead this session exploring oral narration of lived experiences. Participants can expect to explore oral storytelling structure in the Western tradition. By the end of the session, everyone will be able to share an engaging life event. Participants are invited to bring along a photograph from an event or another memory-invoking item to help spark creativity.  Led by Julie Walker
  • Public Art and Contributing to a Community Mural for Rushmore, MN: Participants will engage in a round table discussion led by artist Bobbie Alsgaard Lien on Public Art and the tools to make it happen. Participants will help create a collaborative 4x8foot  mural painting, which will become part of the Rushmore, MN Community Park Mural. Participating artists will have a geometric section on the mural to create their personal design. The completed retreat mural will be the center section of the Park Mural. Additionally, an 8x10" canvas panel will be available for artists to duplicate their mural section design for their personal portfolio. Led by Agnes "Bobbie" Alsgaard-Lien
