Wise Webinar A Day Series: Collecting Discovery Information from Everyday Activities with Debra McLean
Participants will learn how to enhance the discovery process by identifying transferable skills inherent in everyday activities. In building a more comprehensive understanding of the job seeker through the collection of information, employment specialists can make a better job match, access key support strategies and identify possible jobs. This engaging webinar will walk participants through this process, with opportunity to practice throughout the two hours. Please bring at least two pieces of blank paper and 2 different color pens to this interactive session.
Learning Objectives:
- How to quickly collect information about individual job seekers in home settings
- How to analyze information leading to precise job match
- How to utilize information for employer approach and identify possible jobs

Debra McLean, Wise Associate
Debra is passionate about seeing all people obtain employment. She has been intrigued with community building and person centered planning as a way to see individuals with disabilities succeed in jobs that fit them since 1988. She has worked on a number of projects involving people with disabilities and employment. Debra provides training and consultation on employment and person centered planning in Washington and Oregon, and she has taught classes on these topics at Portland State University in the Teacher Education Program and for Highline Community College. She has worked with schools, families, agencies, businesses, and individuals, both in the U.S. and in Australia. Debra holds an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and Deafness, and she is an enthusiastic walker and family member.
