Introduced in our field over 40 years ago, Systematic Instruction continues to be an essential skill set in expanding employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This 2 part webinar will provide an overview of the components of Systematic Instruction including task design and task analysis to prepare the trainer and to document progress and address concerns of safety and independent job performance, and the importance of accommodating learning style through individualized teaching strategies. Participants are encouraged, though not required, to attend both sessions.

For the past 35 years, Teri’s focus has been the development and support of quality employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Individualized technical assistance experience includes: identification of strengths and preferences to guide job development; designing tasks and environments to accommodate learning style; utilizing systematic instruction in teaching new and complex tasks; development of self-management strategies to increase and maintain independence; and troubleshooting performance issues including speed, accuracy and employability skills. In addition, Teri teaches in a certification program developed for Employment Consultants offered through Highline Community College, provides staff training in employment and residential settings in multiple states, and is a consultant/trainer with the Project SEARCH Training Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
