Casey Cupp, Ccupp Marketing Consultants
Sara Cook, Commercial Office Environments
Jenelle Smagala, Synthesis Inc.
Carla Johnson, IU Health (Moderator)

Julie Berry:  Julie owns & leads the Indiana offices of Carson Design Associates —a 25-year journey that has grown from her initial role as a designer, to operations, to majority owner and Indiana President. Julie’s endless curiosity drives her to solve problems, create connections, and unravel the most complex of puzzles. While engaged in daily operations and providing overall direction for the Indiana office, she has the opportunity to put her problem-solving skills to work with her team, providing clients with unique, thoughtful design solutions.

Casey Cupp:   Casey has been working in some facet of marketing for over 15 years, whether it be marketing strategy, digital marketing, management, public relations, etc. She has worked on any and all types of marketing. Her background began in the agency world. In 2006, she began working in real estate. She worked as a project manager and a broker, but ultimately found her way back to marketing within commercial real estate. After running two nationwide marketing and research departments, she decided it was best for her to begin her own marketing consulting business.  Ccupp Marketing Consultants began in early 2018. She was able to generate six clients within the first year.  She still works with multiple commercial real estate companies/vendors, but is also doing consulting work for companies in very diverse industries. For example, manufacturing, financial planning, healthcare, market research, hospitality, etc. Her client base has more than doubled in the first two years.

Sara Cook:  Sara Cook is the founder, sole owner, CEO and President of Commercial Office Environments (COE), an office furniture dealership headquartered in Indianapolis, IN.  COE is a Preferred Haworth dealer and has the proud distinction of being awarded Haworth’s Best in Class Dealer designation in 2018 and 2020.  While attending college Sara obtained her real estate sales license and upon graduation moved to Indianapolis to begin a career in residential real estate sales. While the economy was quite challenging during that time, with some of the highest interest rates in history, she decided to make a career change. The career change began in 1981 when Sara went to work for a small contractor/design firm. She fell in love with the furniture industry and after 6 years she decided to pursue her dream of business ownership before she turned 30 years old.  Just 47 days before her 30th birthday, Commercial Office Environments, Inc. was in business and received its first order on March 13, 1987.

Jenelle Smagala:  Jenelle is founder & president of Synthesis Incorporated, a leading Indianapolis-based architectural design studio. Driven the last 22 years with a passion to find the heart and soul of every project, and guided with a spirit of collaboration, she has led the creation of award-winning designs in civic, healthcare, commercial, and higher education.  Her dedication to paying it forward has found her taking a leadership role with many not-for-profit boards, most recently the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. Like her studio’s namesake, Jenelle’s real talent is bringing together ideas, people, and resources to create unique and rich solutions.

Carla Johnson:  Carla is the Associate General Counsel- Real Estate Initiatives for Indiana University Health, Indiana’s largest healthcare system, which includes 17 hospitals and over 30,000 employees.  Carla is the sole legal support for the Corporate Real Estate Department at IU Health.  Prior to joining IU Health, Carla practiced law in Tennessee, Georgia and Indiana at two AmLaw 100 law firms in which she represented developers and Fortune 500 companies in the maintenance, acquisition and disposition of real property.
