Virtual Wind Energy Workshop for Educators

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? 

  • K-12 Teachers
  • STEM Educators

FOR THE ATTENDEES:

  • It’s FREE
  • A Hands-on wind education kit for your school if you teach in one of the following state: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, or Virginia.
  • Materials aligned to Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core standards

Attendance Requirements:

  • Participants must be able to access and fully participate in a Zoom meeting.  You will be expected to both show your camera and speak throughout the workshop.
  • Participants must be able to participate in the entire workshop with minimal distraction.  We understand everyone is at home and kids/family member/pets are around. We don’t mind seeing them, but you will need to be able to focus and participate in group work throughout the workshop.
  • Participants must be a classroom teacher located in the following states to receive a hands-on kit after the workshop: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Virginia. 
  • Your fellow participants are counting on you to show up! Please be conscious of the fact that you will be working closely with your fellow participants and the success of the workshop relies on everyone who signs up to show up.

Welcome! Review goals and objectives for the workshop and begin planning ways to use the NEED materials and training in your school.

An understanding of energy and energy transformations sets the foundation for learning about wind generated electricity. 

10:30 a.m.       Wind Energy 101

10:45 a.m.       Teaching Language Arts with Wind

Use interdisciplinary lessons to integrate more wind in the classroom too!
