Privacy and Public Health During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Assessing the Impact on U.S. Consumer Privacy Law

Join us May 28 at 2pm EDT for the first NAI “Reach the Summit” virtual event.

Public health officials and government leaders around the world are embracing the use of commercial data to assess social distancing measures, identify potential high-risk zones, and plan the roll-back of restrictions. At the same time, policymakers are considering new privacy laws and how to apply existing ones. In this intimate discussion, we will explore assess how the COVID-10 pandemic could affect the consumer privacy landscape, including the potential need for a new legal framework to ensure a balance between privacy and data-sharing for public health benefits.

 Panelists:

  • Chapin Gregor, Deputy Policy Director, U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Subcommittee on Manufacturing, Trade, and Consumer Protection
  • Maneesha Mithal, Associate Director, Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade Commission
  • Shane Wiley, Chief Privacy Officer, Cuebiq

Moderator:

  • David LeDuc, VP, Public Policy, NAI

‘Reach for the Summit’ Virtual Event Series

With the NAI Annual Summit postponed, NAI will keep members and stakeholders informed about important trends, policies, and ideas impacting our industry by hosting a series of free virtual events. The four-part series will bring together leaders from industry, government, and associations for quick panel discussions that will take a focused dive into topics and leave time for audience Q&A.
