YOUR PRESENTERS: Tad Stephens and Mike Forney

Tad Stephens - In 2002, Tad launched the website www.cpethink.com to sell Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), which he had never done before. After developing the website he had to figure out how to market it, which he had never done before either! 14 years later he has a growing online business and is a Tier 1 CPE provider nationwide and worldwide.  He provides CPE to Fortune 500 firms, staff accountants, and all sizes of accounting firms – all online.

Previously, Tad spent 25 years as a large system software consultant flying around the country installing, customizing and fixing software systems that transacted hundreds of millions (or billions) of dollars.

Mike Forney - Mike has been an active small business counselor since 2004 when he helped form the Steamboat Springs SCORE group. He moved to Fort Collins in 2017 where he continued  SCORE counseling. Larimer County officially became a branch of the Denver chapter under Mike’s direction in 2019. He has been actively involved in financial counseling for small businesses affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mike has worked actively with start-ups and existing small business on partnership issues, strategic and business planning, personnel management and commercial and real estate lending. He has also counseled numerous non-profit organizations.

Mike retired in 2003 as president and CEO of PW Funding, a national commercial and multi-family mortgage banking company headquartered in New York City. He began his commercial mortgage banking career as an owner and chief operating officer of Larson Financial Resources in Bernardsville, New Jersey in 1985.  Prior to 1985, Mike was employed for 18 years as a public relations, public affairs and national advertising manager with AT&T.
