Making Sense of Crisis and Moving Toward Normalcy: How to Help Clients, Colleagues and Ourselves

Target Audience: Direct service staff, managers and administrators

Fee: $15.00

The COVID-19 crisis has greatly magnified the many challenges already endured by the people and communities we serve. We all see the increase in hardships such as food insecurity, housing and safety issues, parenting challenges, layoffs, and inability to pay bills. While facing many of these challenges themselves, human services staff are also dealing with an unfathomable influx of new clients who may never have needed help before.

Our new online workshop aims to help individuals name and understand the variety of emotions experienced during this loss of normalcy, in order to move forward and make meaning of our lives within the “new normal.” There will be ample time to ask questions and develop individual action plans to apply the learning to professional and personal situations.
As a result of this webinar, you will be able to:
  • Put a name to the many emotions (sadness, anger, fear, denial, etc.) that occur during a crisis in order to understand and ultimately move forward
  • Have tools and processes to help you, your colleagues, and your clients identify, accept, make sense of, and integrate the challenges of a crisis and move from survival mode to normalcy and productivity

Facilitator: Tom Ellis, CPC, is the owner and operator of Tom Ellis Coaching in West Newbury, MA.  Tom is a former employee at a Massachusetts Community Action Agency where he counseled and coached youth and adults in education and training programs and in the last 30 years has held multiple positions such as a teacher, trainer, artist, counselor, case manager, IT support, advocate, hospice volunteer, mediator and his current role as Life Coach in various industries. In his spare time, Tom lives on a small farm that is home to alpacas, goats, chickens, ducks and some labs.
