2020 Community Summit Webinar Series

A Virtual Gathering Place!

Seeing Power in the Dark within the Light of Now…Reflections on person centered work in a time of disruption

Sponsored by Clark County

It was a difficult decision to cancel the Community Summit conference that was planned to be held in Wenatchee, Washington in June 2020. In the meantime, the on-going COVID-19 public health crisis has affected every citizen - in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities. Social distancing and the loss of familiar routines has many of us feeling alone and missing our friends, families, and co-workers. But we are still a community!
* The Community Summit Webinar Series is free to attend!

Person centered practice has developed over our many years of struggle to develop our capacity to support full citizenship. Now more than ever we see the fruits of this work as well as the gaps we fall into. During this session we will revisit some of the core values and practices related to person centered work, and find some fresh perspectives on our work going forward. We will think together about ways to strengthen our attention and purpose during this disruptive time.

Participants are invited in advance to watch a 20 minute video about Harlem’s Urban Innovations. Please watch Harlem’s Urban Innovators:

  • Participants will review the five assumptions and five accomplishments of person centered work. They will reflect on the strengths of their own practice.
  • In light of the COVID crisis, participants will reflect on the four levels of community engagement…how is it going? What are we learning about the ways in which we support people with IDD to belong and be members of real communities?
  • Participants will clarify for themselves and with others, what they see more clearly in this moment: What am I called to let go of? What am I noticing about my inner state? What is beginning to emerge?
  • Participants will identify emerging uplifting patterns and think together about ways to strengthen attention and purpose during this disruptive time.
