Our Old Baggage- Supported Employment History and Values with Debra McLean

Please join us on Monday, May 12th for our webinar, Our Old Baggage- Supported Employment History and Values" with Debra McLean.

Debra Mclean will review the history of supported employment since the 1970s. She will discuss how paid employment in an integrated setting is part of  being a full citizen in today’s world and the underlying values that must be upheld in assisting people with disabilities to achieve meaningful work. Participants will walk away with knowledge on the history of supported employment, key components of successful assessment and placement, and values that drive this work.

*Please note: Wise maintains registration and attendance records for our events and training programs. Attendees that fully participate in events and/or complete training programs will receive a certificate to document  full participation as back up for billing purposes.  Wise is required to monitor participation in our courses and provide reports to our funding sources so that they may utilize these records in the course of their audits of programs. These reports may include actual time spent by attendee name, event/training title, county and state. Reports are provided to ensure there is documented proof of the appropriate use of government funds for the purposes of professional development.

Debra McLean, Wise Associate

Debra is passionate about seeing all people obtain employment. She has been intrigued with community building and person centered planning as a way to see individuals with disabilities succeed in jobs that fit them since 1988. She has worked on a number of projects involving people with disabilities and employment. Debra provides training and consultation on employment and person centered planning in Washington and Oregon, and she has taught classes on these topics at Portland State University in the Teacher Education Program and for Highline Community College. She has worked with schools, families, agencies, businesses, and individuals, both in the U.S. and in Australia. Debra holds an MS in Rehabilitation Counseling and Deafness, and she is an enthusiastic walker and family member.
