Lactation Education Specialist Training Part 2, 2020: (Sep 14, 21, 28, Oct 5, 26, Nov 2)

BreastfeedLA's Lactation Consultant Education Course is an advanced and comprehensive educational course that provides part 2 of the 90 hours as mandated by the IBLCE for certification as a Lactation Consultant. This information will allow graduates to have the background necessary to prepare students to pass the educational components of the IBCLC exam for certification as an IBCLC.
.
Prerequisites include successful completion of a 45 hour lactation education training (i.e. CLE/C/S) within the last 5 years and a passion for elevating breastfeeding as a public health strategy to improve disparities in health outcomes.

Lactation Consultants work in many settings in our community, including physicians' offices, hospitals, lactation centers, and in private practice.
.

The scope of practice for an IBCLC can be found here:

https://iblce.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/scope-of-practice-2018.pdf.

To sit for the IBCLC certification examination, an individual must meet eligibility criteria in three areas: Health Sciences Education, Lactation Specific Education, and Lactation Specific Clinical Experience.  This course satisfies one of the three requirements: Lactation Specific Education.

BreastfeedLA’s Lactation Consultant Specialist Training was created to provide opportunities for the lactation-specific education required for all individuals aspiring to pursue designation as IBCLCs and to supplement the training and education of existing healthcare professionals in the area of human lactation. All concepts, skills, and education in human lactation are taught in accordance with the IBLCE Detailed Content Outline (www.iblce.org)  and meet the standards for supporting breastfeeding practices advised by the World Health Organization, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Baby-Friendly USA.

This course may be utilized to satisfy the lactation education requirements for pathway 1 or 3 of the IBCLE requirement
