Back by popular demand and now in a convenient, on-line platform, CalAPA is pleased to present a special class on Hot Mix Asphalt pavement smoothness specifications, with a special empasis on the new Caltrans pavement smoothness specifications. The class offers a brief introduction into how pavement smoothness is measured, followed by a detailed look at the current specifications with a focus on obligations, risks, and opportunities for both parties. While the 2019 Caltrans smoothness specifications are significantly improved compared to previous versions, they remain complex and it is vitally important to understand what is required and how the information is used to evaluate acceptance and payment.
Instructor Mike Robinson (pictured), a paving consultant who formerly worked for Caltrans and private industry, will bring his engaging style and real-world examples to this lively class. This seminar is an outgrowth of the highly popular presentations he gave at CalAPA Asphalt Pavement Conferences. This class complements Mike Robinson's paving best-practices class.
NOTE: This class will be delivered in remote "LIVE STREAM WEBINAR" format only. There will be no in-person class location. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the presentation and have them answered during the class. A link to participate in the class remotely via computer will be sent separately to all registrants. All attendees will also receive via e-mail an electronic certificate of completion documenting that they have completed two (2) Professional Development Hours (PDH) of technical instruction. Participants will also receive an electronic copy of a handy class workbook, which contains all slides, and a glossary of terms and acronyms defined.
Who should attend? This class is ideal for asphalt pavement contractors, public works paving crews, supervisors, inspectors and others who care about delivering a quality paving job.
