Leveraging Historic Structures as a Strategic Resource for Community Economic Development
Taught by Jud Kline, FAIA, President of CIVITAD Services, Councilman Orange Village, Adjunct Prof. KSU, CAED, and North Coast College. He will focus on the benefits and methods for the adaptive re-use of historic structures. The discussion will address how communities can be pro-active and promotional in recognizing potential project objectives.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will identify the value proposition of historic structures in pursuing community economic development strategies.
- Attendees will be able to assess the physical, geographic, social, economic character of a district in the process of designing a strategy for re-animating historic buildings & neighborhoods.
- Attendees will learn to develop a process for organizing information on community assets and then to interpret and to formulate a strategy.
- Attendees will analyze a process for creating a vision for a district and then synthesize the strategic opportunities this process will generate.
