Makerspaces Interest Group Meeting (6/4/20)

Meeting Information

The next meeting of the Makerspace Interest Group will take place online on Thursday, June 4, from 1:30 - 2:30.

Agenda:

Welcome and introductions - Come prepared to talk about yourself and your main area(s) of interest in makerspace programming and/or services. Also, please let us know what your hopes and expectations for this interest group are.

Virtual Programming – The reality of the current pandemic will hinder face to face programming for the foreseeable future. Let’s discuss some ways libraries can meet the programing needs of our communities by using online resources. Please come ready to discuss any virtual makerspace programs your system or branch is thinking about implementing or has already implemented.

Online education and collaboration tools - Given that we might not be experiencing face to face contact with our patrons anytime soon, lets take a look at a few online tools that we might be able to utilize in order to facilitate communication with library staff and patrons online.

Interest Group Facilitators:  Joe Baca and Sarah Grainger

Joe Baca is the Makerspace Librarian at the Alachua County Library District. He has been with Alachua County for close to two years. At the district he is responsible for coordinating and supporting makerspace programming at all 12 library branches. Joe has a wide interest in a variety of Makerspace related subjects and activities.

Sarah Grainger is a Makerspace Library Specialist in Adult Services with the Alachua County Library District.
