Financial Statement Analysis: A Banker's Perspective

*This will be a live online workshop via Zoom*

In this workshop you will learn how to prepare your financials and understanding the 3 basic financial statement types. You'll also learn what a banker looks for in a loan request.

Objectives of this workshop:

  • What a Banker looks for in a loan request and how they think about your numbers.
  • Prepare you to talk to a Banker about financial statements, and other metrics so they will help you finance your business as needed.
  • Explain in plain language basic financial terms and concepts that small business owners need to know.
  • Review the 3 basic Financial Statement Types: Income Statement; Balance Sheet; and Cash Flow.
  • Gain a better understanding of your Financial Statements

Presented by Bob Coons


Bob Coons is a certified SCORE mentor and volunteer. He has 41 years of commercial banking experience. He was a Managing Director and Senior Credit Officer with Citibank for 34 years. In addition to the US, he has lived and worked overseas in Europe and Latin America helping small to middle market companies obtain financing for their businesses. Bob has strong knowledge of what banks look for, in addition to financial statement analysis; financial forecasting / business planning; loan products; and financing solutions. Bob has received both a Bachelor of Science with a major in Finance and a minor in Business Administration from Rollins College, and an MBA from Fordham University in New York.

If you need to cancel you must notify us via email 7 days prior to the workshop date. A confirmation of your cancellation will be sent once it is received. Calling the SCORE Fort Worth office is not acceptable for a cancellation notice. All no-shows or cancellations after 7 days will lose their paid workshop fees. 

All workshop fees must be paid in advance prior to workshop date. For security purposes we will not be able to accept payment for workshops at the door unless workshop is being held at James E. Guinn complex in Fort Worth, TX.  

CANCELLATION NOTICES MUST BE IN WRITING AND EMAILED TO: Jenny Day at ch.admin0120@scorevolunteer.org. Any other means of cancellation will not be accepted.
