Abstract:  The Department of Defense highly leverages the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) to develop architectures. Our experience highlighted that DoDAF did not address the entire system lifecycle nor did it easily convey critical information to program personnel and stakeholders. This presentation investigates several architectural development methodologies (ADM) and provides a recommended ADM approach by creating a new ADM approach to use for the development of the FORGE program. The goal of the ADM is to develop an approach that fits within existing DoD business practices; covers the program lifecycle; is comprehensive; is easy to convey; and maturity can be measured and tracked.
