Grantwriting Fundamentals with Carol Vander Meer and Erika Wright 

Grantwriting is a skill needed in organizations of all sizes and sectors. This interactive series is for those newer to grantwriting and will primarily focus on proposal writing for foundation grants. You’ll have an opportunity to develop proposal components for one of your organization’s programs or projects.

Instructors Carol VanderMeer and Erika Wright have many years in the field of grant research, writing and management. They will guide participants in learning how to write and submit a competitive grant proposal. Elements of the course include:

  • How to find grants for your work

  • Understanding the process of developing a competitive grant proposal

  • Creating an impactful needs statement and logic model

  • Developing the proposal budget

This one day workshop will address grants for nonprofits, community groups, agencies, schools, faith based organizations, or local government. It does not address grant funding for individuals or for-profit businesses.

Course Instructors:

Carol Vander Meer has been working with local environmental nonprofits for over 20 years. She is the Director of Community Engagement at the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust and previously served as the Executive Director of Friends of the Dunes. Carol has experience writing and managing government and private foundation grants, as well as many years of experience in donor engagement.

Erika Wright is a grant specialist at Humboldt State University where she assists faculty, staff, and campus centers look for funding, reach out to funding agencies, develop and submit compelling proposals, and negotiate contracts. Erika has worked with community organizations as a grant writer and consultant.
