Dr. Luis Fleischman will discuss conflict in the Middle East
Speaker Profile:
Luis Fleischman is a professor of Sociology at Palm Beach State College and the founding co-chair of the Palm Beach Center for Democracy, a recently created think-tank based in Florida. Previously he has worked for the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County as Executive Director for community and political relations focusing on issues related to the Middle East and national security.
Fleischman was also an adjunct professor of Sociology and Political Science at Florida Atlantic University Honors College and FAU Lifelong Learning Society. He has made presentations at Harvard University, Oxford, the University of California(UCLA), the University of Miami. He is an active member of the Academic Engagement Network, an organization that aims to promote productive ways to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict Fleischman holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the New School for Social Research in New York City, an M.A degree from the New School, and a B.A in Political Science and Labor Studies from Tel Aviv University. Fleischman has served as international observer to the Honduras Elections (11/29/09), consultant for the World Jewish Congress on Latin American Affairs and also as a delegate at two annual meetings of foreign ministers at the Organization of American States (OAS). He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hebrew.
He is the author of the soon to be released book “The Middle East Riddle: An Analysis of the Palestinian/Israeli Conflict in Light of Geo-Political & Social Changes in the Region”. He has also authored “ Latin America in the Post Chavez Era: A Threat to U.S. Security”. Fleischman’s journalistic articles have appeared in The Journal of International Security Affairs, Small Wars Journal, Global Antisemitism (Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism), the Middle Atlantic Council of Latin American Affairs (MACLAS) Review, The Interamerican Institute for Democracy and in Focus Quarterly Journal. Dr. Fleischman writes opinion pieces accessible at Newsmax, Americas Report (Center for Security Policy), Americas Forum, The Cutting-Edge News, and Scholars for Peace in the Middle East. Fleischman is a frequent guest on English & Spanish TV and radio programs He is a regular guest on CNN in Spanish, Newsmax, MegaTV, NTN 24 and other TV networks. His articles have been published in the Chicago Tribune, Palm Beach Post, and the Sun-Sentinel, El Nuevo Herald, El Correo (Peru), El Pais (Uruguay), El Observador (Uruguay), La Republica (Ecuador), and El Universal (Venezuela).
