Going Public with Citizens Research Council

Your Safety and Health in Michigan during COVID-19

Register Now to Attend the 2020 Virtual Public Policy Event on Thursday, Oct. 22nd

6:00 - 7:30 pm

Gather online with others who value smart public policy research. Our virtual event will feature a keynote speaker and a panel of Michigan public health experts.

Barbara L. McQuade, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, will share her perspective on how police reforms that were part of a consent agreement between the City of Detroit and the U.S. Department of Justice addressed issues still confronting many other cities.

Professor McQuade has been recognized by the Detroit Free Press with the Neal Shine Award for Exemplary Regional Leadership, The Detroit News with the Michiganian of the Year Award, Crain's Detroit Business as a Newsmaker of the Year and one of Detroit's Most Influential Women, and the Detroit Branch NAACP and Arab American Civil Rights League with their Tribute to Justice Award.

A panel of Michigan public health experts will discuss issues and share solutions related to Michigan’s ability to respond to the coronavirus pandemic and lessons learned that should shape future public policy. The panel will be moderated by Tim Michling, Citizens Research Council health policy researcher.

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Renée Branch Canady, CEO of Michigan Public Health Institute
  • Dr. Phyllis D. Meadows, Senior Fellow in the Health Program - The Kresge Foundation
  • Dennis Paradis, Executive Director Emeritus, Michigan Health Policy Forum
  • Marianne Udow-Phillips, Founding Executive Director - Center for Health & Research Transformation (CHRT) at the University of Michigan
  • Rep. Hank Vaupel, DVM, Chair of the Michigan House Health Policy Committee, District 47
