Saturdays beginning October 3,2020      10:00-10:45am

Please join us for any or all of the eight sessions and receive OPI renewal units.

COVID-19 has brought many changes to the start of the 2020-21 school year. The changing environment and extra requirements can create uncertainty and anxiety. Please join us this fall on Saturday mornings to learn new techniques for self-care.We hope that these sessions give you a little time to focus on YOU and YOUR needs as you work diligently to meet the needs of your students and their families.

Description:

The purpose of this series of sessions is to increase the audience’s academic and applied knowledge of self-care and mindfulness to reduce stress during the times of Covid-19.  We will explore causes of stress and paths to stress reduction.  This series will merge western psychology with philosophies found in eastern cultures.

Each session will include a discussion clarifying what is meant by a variety of terms including mindfulness, illusion of control, stress, coping mechanisms, self-compassion and the joy and anxiety of impermanence. Participants will participate in a variety of mindfulness techniques suitable for self-care and implementation with students.

A Note from Ben Carr:

My name is Benjamin Carr, I am is a psychotherapist with a passion for removing the impediments for joy.  My work has always included a combination of applied psychotherapy as well as education.   I have worked in a variety of settings from impatient, school based, community based, and private practice.  Additionally, I have found great joy in teaching and training therapists as well as undergraduates at Montana Tech.  Originally from Oklahoma, I received my bachelors in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma with a focus on Industrial Psychology.  After a brief stint in Alaska, I shifted my focus to understand the nature of suffering and joy.   I moved to Missoula and I received my graduate degree from the University of Montana in Mental Health Counseling.    I am husband to a very wonder and wise wife and father to a daughter who is the embodiment of joy. It is an honor to share my passion for creating a kinder, more mindful world to live in with you all.
